About Us

Real Care, Felt Before It Is Explained

Mercedes Health is a behavioral health organization built on a simple belief, that quality care should be available to all. Here is who we are, how we got here, and what we are building.

Our Story

From One Therapist to a Standard of Care

Mercedes Health began in 2015 with one therapist and a conviction: that families navigating the hardest seasons of their lives deserved care that actually felt like care. Billy Mercedes built the practice the same way he delivered therapy, one relationship at a time, in living rooms and kitchens across New Jersey. The team grew. The programs grew. The reputation traveled further than any one person could carry it.

What started as Mercedes and Family became something bigger than its founder: a clinical organization with a multidisciplinary team, a physical headquarters, and a standard of care the community could count on. Mercedes Health is the next chapter of that same story. The name evolved. The conviction never did.

Health That Starts From Within

What We Believe

What We Stand For

Belonging

We design for belonging rather than assuming it. Everyone who comes to us should feel they were considered before they arrived.

Confidence

We let the work speak for itself. You will not find exaggerated claims here, only care worthy enough not to need them.

Intentionality

Nothing here is accidental, from the waiting room to the clinical model. That kind of care is itself a form of treatment.

Continuity

Care should not restart when your needs change. One team, every level of care, so your story is never explained twice.

Permanence

We are building something that lasts, with the reach of an institution and the heart of a family practice.

Humanity

At a moment when care is becoming automated and distant, we are a conscious counterpoint. We bring humanity back to care.

How We Care

Rigor and Heart, Together

We combine proven, evidence-based therapeutic approaches with a warm, person-centered philosophy. Our clinicians are trained in modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-focused care, and they are chosen as much for their humanity as for their credentials. We believe the most rigorous care and the most compassionate care are the same thing, delivered by people who see the whole person in front of them.

Leadership

Founded by
Billy Mercedes

Billy Mercedes, LPC, ACS, CHt, MA, founded Mercedes Health on the belief that care should feel personal at every scale. As Founder and CEO, he has grown the organization from a solo in-home practice into a multidisciplinary clinical team, while holding onto the relationship-first approach that started it all. His vision is an organization that plays among the largest health systems in the state while keeping the values of the smallest.

Beyond the Session

Care That Reaches Beyond the Session

We believe wellness is bigger than clinical hours. Beyond the Session is our growing set of community programs, beginning with Mercedes Boxing, in partnership with Different Breed Elite Fitness in Teaneck. More are in development. These programs are open to the community and to our patients alike, and they are separate from clinical care.
